Breakfast and lunch is served at Coach’s Island Grill, offering plate sized pancakes, all the comfort food that makes life better, and even though this spot is a local favorite, no reservations are needed and wait times are reasonable.
Lelo’s Island Bar, 212 Beach Street, Closed Tuesdays
At lunch and at dinner, you will find many of our Port A residents bellying up to a table at Lelo’s Island Bar, open from 11AM to 10PM. This local Tiki Bar is famed for its burgers, sandwiches, and delicious cocktails, as well as its family friendly patio and yard offering games and good times.
Fall Beach Days
Do you want to know something that requires no advance planning and represents the heart of Port Aransas the best? Of course, we are talking about a day at the beach, and because the weather and the water is still warm in the fall months but most of the world is back at home diving into real life, wide open sandy beaches await you. Slip into your swimsuits, grab your beach gear, and head to the white sands and turquoise waters that you have been staring at from your Sandcastle Condominiums balcony almost from the first moment you stepped inside. No reservations are needed to frolic in the surf, and no preplanning is necessary for building sandcastles at shore’s edge. Your day at the beach can turn into every day at the beach during your last minute Texas getaway and no one would mind if the idea just came to you a short 10 minutes before.
Port Aransas Art Center, 104 N Alister Street, Closed Sundays
Open from 11 AM to 5 PM, no advanced planning is needed to enjoy shopping for art at the Port Aransas Art Center, offering a place where the best artists in town can display their work, while also offering classes in the genres they know best. Their classes may require signing up in advance, but we have noticed there is usually availability, even at the last minute, and their events, including their sip and shop ones they hold on Fridays and Saturdays invite you to drop by without having to register.
Port Aransas Nature Preserve at Charlie’s Pasture
Ecotours offered by local companies do require making reservations, but you can enjoy a peaceful stroll at the Port Aransas Nature Preserve at Charlie’s Pasture at any time, experiencing a lot of what the ecotours will offer while not having to pay a penny. Our budget conscious travelers will appreciate that last part and everyone will fall in love with the sights and sounds they experience as they stroll along hiking trails and boardwalks, feeling at peace with the world.
Enjoy a Night on the Town at Bernie’s Beach House, 730 Trout Street
The party lasts every night until 2 AM at Bernie’s Beach House, no reservations needed. Offering five bars, a dance floor, live bands, and karaoke, you can stay till the bitter end, knowing that you don’t have to wake up early the next morning. Also currently offering stand up comedy on the first Wednesday of the month through December, there is no cover charge for entry, meaning the laughs you enjoy will be free ones.
