This recurring event takes place, oddly enough, on the first Friday of the month, celebrating the creative impulses of the best artists in the state. Live music plays the soundtrack to this procession that leads people from galleries to shops, taking breaks to enjoy refreshments and beverages, and giving every participant the opportunity to take home the most unusual souvenirs, remembering their Texas adventures in the most eclectic of ways. The Art Center has always been the center of local art, offering not just galleries, but classes that will teach potential artists the way of the art. While Farmers Markets are generally held on a weekly basis in most towns, in Port Aransas we hold just two every year with the Spring Farmers Market being our absolute favorite. Offering only the produce that is in season, moms can feel excited about stocking their pantries and refrigerators with the freshest and sweetest of produce, baked goods, and locally harvested seafood. One of the most fun and heartwarming activities during a day at the beach with the kids is the building of a sandcastle together.
