If you have been dreading breaking your annual New Year’s resolution, or even if you have given up the tradition altogether, we at Sandcastle Condominiums can feel your pain; we were once there ourselves. There is something about the new year that makes us believe in possibilities, however, and instead of giving up altogether, we tweaked the intent just a little, changing our resolutions from the negative (stop eating so much, work harder, be better) to the positive (eat well, spoil yourself often, and travel more). As such we invite our guests to do the same, and if you choose to make your favorite resolution one that encourages you to travel to Port Aransas in 2025, all the better. This list of other resolutions that you can follow during your Texas adventures will make the new year shine even brighter!

Resolve to Play More
Americans are the hardest working nation, taking the least amount of sick days and receiving the lowest number of vacation days, so in the spirit of spoiling yourself, we urge you to play more. It will be a little too chilly to swim in the Gulf during your winter visit, but your resolution to travel to Port Aransas doesn’t say for New Year’s only, so if swimming in the Gulf of Mexico sounds like a wonderful thing, summer comes quickly here and lingers long. If you just need the serenity of the sea, however, that is an eternal quality offered by the waters surrounding and you can get your daily does of “Vitamin Sea” with morning and evening walks along water’s edge, watching the world awaken around you at dawn and cheering on the night every evening. Texas sunrises and sunsets are a sight to behold and as the sky fills with color your soul will fill with awe over the beautiful scene that surrounds you and your new year will start out the way you hope it will end, with joy, promise, and peace.
Resolve to Keep the Magic of Christmas Alive
There really is magic in Christmas, we just have to look beyond the chores, the expense, the expectations that society places upon us and if you are experiencing a New Year’s Eve in Port Aransas, you will soon discover that Christmas lingers at least a week or so after December 25th. Sand Santa at Roberts Point Park is a sand sculpture of Santa Claus, created by the world’s most talented sand artists (Did you even know such a thing existed?), and this whimsical creation will bring laughter to your being. This year Santa is surfing alongside his favorite Texas friend, Flynn the sea turtle and we promise your Insta posts will be better with a selfie from this spot. And because you can’t have Christmas without lights, stick around a little later and enjoy the waning nights of the Nautical & Nice Drive Thru Christmas Lights, perhaps sipping from your thermos of hot cocoa as you do.
Resolve to Eat Well
No, we aren’t telling you to eat healthier nor are we telling you to eat less. We encourage you to savor the fresh taste of locally sourced seafood, indulging in an epicurean tour of good taste with visits to some of our best restaurants. Virginia’s on the Bay, located at 815 S Trout Street, offers a taste of excellence combined with views of the harbor so you never have to be far from the serenity of the sea. Reasonably priced, its menu features the best of both worlds, offering land and sea offerings that deserve to be savored slowly, especially their Cajun Shrimp Dump that will spice up your evening in all the right ways. And because life is short, we encourage you to save room for dessert, falling in love with the flavor of their Chocolate & Coconut Gooey Louie! And if you don’t love the mess that goes along with cleaning and prepping the fish you may have caught during your fishing adventures, Virginia’s also offers their “you hook, we cook” special, that takes away the ick. They call it BYOF (Bring your own fish) and offer a variety of methods of preparing your catch of the day.
